Eleanor "Susie" Lou Gist

Eleanor
Lou “Susie” Siros Gist, age 69, of Beaumont, passed away July 10, 2014. A
native of Beaumont, she was born on June 28, 1945, to Elizabeth Belle Hurlbut
Siros and Clinton Glasgow Siros. She was a previous resident of Texas City,
Texas, and a graduate of South Park High School and Lamar State College of
Technology, in Beaumont. Susie worked for Child Protective Services until she
left the work force to be a full time caregiver of her family.
Susie,
to friends and relatives, was bright and diligent. She had a deep commitment to
genealogy and a love of the beach, gardening, bird watching, card games,
puzzles, and cats. Susie was a Girl Scout leader for her daughters’ troops, enjoyed
camping, hiking and generally all outdoor activities.
She
was a devoted member of the Church of Latter Day Saints.
MiMaw
will be missed by her children, Rodney Gist, Elizabeth Hernandez and her
husband, George; and Emily Gist and her husband, Ian Wagner; grandchildren,
George and Emily Hernandez, Ethan and Isaac Wagner; siblings, Ernst Siros, Jane
Connelly, Marilyn Levaas and Carolyn Mauzy; and many nieces and nephews and
special friends.
Susie
was preceded in death by her husband, Garland; and parents, Libby and Clint
Siros.
A
gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7785 Weaver Drive, Beaumont. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s
Crematorium.
