LaRetta Poindexter, 89, of Port Neches, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Gulf Health Care Center, Port Arthur. She was born on July 27, 1924, in Houston, to Thelma Chamberlin Mitchell and Harvey Mitchell, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. LaRetta enjoyed stock car racing and photography.
She is survived by her sons, Don W. Poindexter and his wife, Sandra, of San Marcos and Doug Poindexter of Port Neches; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
LaRetta is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Don Poindexter; parents; daughter, Donna Parrish; and brother, Harvey Mitchell.
A committal for Mrs. Poindexter was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
