Pearl
Callahan Domingue, 100, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully Friday, June 13,
2014. She was the first born child of Rose LaFosse Callahan and Eli Callahan,
who lived in the community of Ged, Louisiana.
Pearl
moved with her family to Hackberry, Louisiana, where she spent much of her
youth. She had many fond memories of Hackberry, which always held a special
place in her heart. Pearl was educated at St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles,
Louisiana. In 1933, she married Elton P. Domingue and they shared sixty happy
years together. A loving, devoted, wife and mother, Pearl’s sweet and gentle
nature enriched the lives of her family and friends. Although Elton and Pearl
lived throughout Louisiana and Texas, they eventually settled in Morgan City,
Louisiana. In her later years, she resided in Beaumont to be closer to her
Callahan family.
Pearl
will be remembered for her thoughtful ways, her gracious spirit, and sweet
personality. She was a homemaker who dearly cared for her family and friends
and always strived to do her best to make a loving home. Pearl frequently said
she was blessed to have a “good life”. She also would profess that she was
privileged to have lived through a span which covered “the primitive to the
modern.”
She
is preceded in death by her husband, Elton; daughter, Barbara Jean Domingue;
parents; twin brothers, Ernest and Earl Callahan; and sister, Catherine Kyle.
Survivors
