John Edward Massingill, 74,
of Winnie, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014. He was born on January 25, 1940, in
Bastrop, Louisiana, to Myrtis McIntyre Tullos and Edward Massingill.
John served in the United
States Army in his young years and lived in Winnie for the past thirty-six
years. He worked at the Sherrill Trailer
Park in Winnie until he retired in January of 2002. John was an avid hunter and fisherman and
loved the outdoors and wildlife. He was
the “Grizzly Adams” of the 21st Century!
Survivors include son, Johnny
Massingill; and brother, Larry Massingill.
John was preceded in death by parents; wife, Linda; and stepmother,
Katherine Louise Massingill.
A family committal for Mr.
Massingill will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction
of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
A special “Thank You” and
heartfelt gratitude to Yvonne and Earl “Buddy” Sherrill, whom he loved with all
his heart; to Dr. Stovall and Alexis
(Dr. Stovall’s nurse) with the Veteran’s Administration Clinic in Beaumont, for
their wonderful care and compassion through the years. JohnHe will be missed by all.
