Betty J. Beamon, 90, of Beaumont, died
Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She
was born on February 10, 1924, in Rockwood, Tennessee, to Emma Grace Poole and
James Floyd Poole.
In 1927, Betty moved with her family to
Magnolia, Arkansas, where she met and married her beau, Duard Bell in 1940, at
the sweet age of 16. Duard and Betty moved to Hope, Arkansas where Duard worked
at Keith's Jewelry and Betty was a homemaker.
After Duard 's death, Betty moved to Waco for several years before
moving to Beaumont. Betty lived in Raintree Tower for twenty-eight years, prior
to her death, where she encountered a lot of new friends and extended family.
She was a member of Amelia Baptist Church in Beaumont where she accepted her
Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and followed in believer’s baptism.
She is preceded in death by her parents;
husband; son, Keith Bell; granddaughter, Laura Bell; sisters, Ruth Carlson,
Henrietta Mann, Emma Grace Hulse, Cleo Mann Godfrey, and Linda Mann; and
brothers, Richard Jacobs and Edward Jacobs.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Rita
Bell-Kincannon and Mary Bell of Waco; brother, Robert Jacobs and wife, Janie,
of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Ms. Beamon will
be 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, at Meeker Baptist Church, 575 North Meeker
Road, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue,
Beaumont.
A
family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
