Jeffrey "Jeff" Alan Wisor
September 25, 1958 - May 12, 2014
Jeffrey “Jeff”
Alan Wisor, 55, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, May 12,
2014.
Jeff was
born September 25, 1958, in Warren, Ohio, to James Lewis and Jean Superak
Wisor.
The measure
of Jeff’s life stretches far and wide from the wife, whom he adored for more
than twenty-one years, to the son, Axle, 16, of whom he was infinitely proud,
to the theater students whose lives he touched and guided.
In his eighteen-year
tenure at Lamar University as Assistant Professor and Director of Technical
Theater, he taught by example; with a rare sense of humor, patience and
fairness. In the words of graduate Robbie Watson, “Today we ponder the life of
mentor, professor, friend, confidante, [and] a second father figure.”
Any
remembrance of Jeff would be remiss without a mention of inventive words and
phrases affectionately known to many friends and students as Wisor-isms. These
may be shared Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at a
gathering at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His Memorial Mass
will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at St. Anthony
Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, under the direction of
Broussard’s.
He will be
profoundly missed by his eleven siblings; Sandra Levelle, John Dann and Deborah
Davis all of Warren; Marsha Wheelock and her husband, Bob of Cincinnati; Roman
Dann, Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Warren; Steve Dann and his wife Linda, of
Champion, Ohio; Rae Ann Mansfield and her husband Jeff; Jim Wisor and his wife,
JoAnn; and Maribeth Tucker, all of Cortland, Ohio; Eugene Wisor and his wife,
Jessica, of Corvallis Oregon, and Michael
Dann and his wife, Carol of McMinnville, Tennessee.
He is preceded
in death by his parents; and step-father, Roman Dann Sr.
In lieu of
flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Monsignor Kelly Catholic
High School, 5950 Kelly Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77707, for the education of his
son, Axle.
