Nola
Marie Fontenot, 91, of Nederland, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Gulf
Health Care Nursing Facility, Port Arthur. She was born August 11, 1922, in
Eunice, Louisiana to Edina Fontenot and Hiram Courville, and had been a
resident of the area for the last thirty-five years. Nola devoted her life to
caring for her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, spoiling
her grandchildren, lounging on her porch swing and she especially loved cooking
for and spending time with her family.
Nola
is survived by her daughter, Gwen Frith and her husband, Curtis, of Forked
Island, Louisiana; sons, Milton Fontenot and his wife, Leah, of Kountze and
Clint Fontenot and his wife, Sara of Nederland; ten grandchildren; fifteen
great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
She
is preceded in death by her husband; and all her brothers and sisters.
A
gathering of Mrs. Fontenot’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, at
Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service
will be 2:30p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to
follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
