Elizabeth Riley Guarnere

Elizabeth Riley Guarnere, 94, of Nederland, died March 22, 2014, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. She was born on February 14, 1920, in Paris, Tennessee, to Garvy Odessa Pullen and Percy Riley. Elizabeth had been a longtime resident of the area and was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma Iota Rho Chapter.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Guarnere Handel and her husband, Glenn, of Nederland; grandchildren, Barrett Handel and Raven Handel Broussard; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Paige Broussard, Graiden Vincent Broussard, and Bryant Anthony Broussard; niece, Linda Riley Simpson; nephew, Charles Phillip Riley; and great-nephew, Kevin Simpson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vincent Anthony Guarnere; brother, Charles Riley; and sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Riley.

A gathering of Mrs. Guarnere’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
