Geraldine "Gerri" Piccione Modica

Geraldine “Gerri” Piccione Modica, 67, of San Antonio, died Wednesday,
March 19, 2014, in San Antonio. A native of Beaumont, she was born on July 15,
1946, to Mary and Sam Piccione.
Gerri attended St.
Anthony Catholic School, graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964, attended
Lamar University and graduated from nursing school at Hotel Dieu. She worked as
a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, specializing in cardiology. In
1968, she married J.C. Modica and together they have two daughters.
For the past twelve
years she lived in San Antonio, Texas, and was an active parishioner with St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was a beloved mother, enjoyed flower
gardening, making jewelry, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her
daughters, Angela Schwab and her husband, Ken; and Christina Modica-Salinas and
her husband, Richard; sister, Elaine Piccione; grandchildren, Michael Schwab,
Ava Schwab, Sarah Schwab, and Sophia Salinas; and former husband, J.C. Modica.
She is preceded in death
by her parents, Mary and Sam J. Piccione, Sr.; and brother, Sam J. Piccione Jr.
A gathering of Ms.
Modica’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at
5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue,
Beaumont. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 24,
2014, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, with a
committal service to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the
direction of Broussard’s.
