7, 1931, to Felicity Gorum Bass and David Webster Bass in Boyce, Louisiana,
and had been a resident of the Mid-County area since 1953. James was a veteran
of the United States Marine Corps. Before his retirement, he worked for many

grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in a family gathering.

his loving wife of sixty years, Helen Bass; sons, James David Bass and his
wife, Sheila, of Nederland, Raymond Paul Bass and his wife, Carol, and Ross
Allen Bass and his wife, Wendy, all of Beauxart Gardens; seven grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren and another on the way; son-in-law, Chip Volz of Taylor
Landing; sister, Alma Blood, of Centerville, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He is preceded in death
by his parents; and daughter, Georgiana Volz.
A gathering of Mr.
Bass’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 noon, with his funeral service to
follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Interment will follow at Oak
