Doris Mae Duplant

Doris Mae Duplant, 90, of Nederland, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014. She was born August 20, 1923, to Julie and Ulysses Sonnier in Port Arthur, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Doris devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker, wife and mother. Her favorite times were spent holding family gatherings and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Joan Duplant Cole of Nederland and Janell Duplant McCorkle of St. Petersburg, Florida; son, U.E. Bootsie Edward Duplant and his wife, Pat, of Nederland; grandchildren, Monica Hopper, Bret Duplant, Deborah Duplant, Jennifer Russell, Robert Edwin Duplant, Scott McCorkle, Amanda Wright, Shelby Duplant; and fourteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edwin Duplant; sons, Ronald Edward Duplant and Donovan Edward Duplant; sisters, Ruby Norris and Hazel Moore; and brother, Maxie Sonnier.

A gathering of Ms. Duplant’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
