Lena
Mae Sonnier, 88, of Groves,
died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on July 21, 1925, in Jennings,
Louisiana, to Blanch Myers Trahan and Ovey Trahan. Ms. Sonnier retired with J.D. Chester
Construction Company as construction manager.
She enjoyed fishing, bowling, and working at her plant nursery in
Nederland. She was an excellent cook and
loved her cats dearly.
Survivors
include her sons, John Wayne Sonnier and his wife, Sylvia; Larry Dale Sonnier,
Sr. and his wife, Tena; and James Randall Sonnier; six grandchildren, Michael
Wayne Sonnier; Dana Rene Wickland and her husband, Mike; Denise Rachelle
Malley; Larry “Bubba” Sonnier, Jr. and his wife, Shanna; James David Sonnier
and his wife, Jessie; and Angalena Soileau and her husband, Benny; and twelve
great-grandchildren, Shelby Wickland, Todd Wickland, Joshua Sonnier, Jude
Moore, Taylor Malley, Trevin Sonnier, Hunter Sonnier, Harlie Sonnier, Jordan
Sonnier, Buddy Sonnier, Ella Soileau, and Grey Soileau; sister, Margaret
LeBlanc; and brother, Jr. Trahan.
She
is preceded in death by her brother, Lester Trahan.
A
gathering of Ms. Sonnier’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her
memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, at
Broussard’s, 505 12th
Street, Nederland. Her committal will be held at Broussard’s
Crematorium, Beaumont.
