Versie Mae Corkran Lanier

Versie
Mae Corkran Lanier, 86, of Nederland, died Monday, February 10, 2014. She was
born October 26, 1927, to Jerusha Cottongim and Burl Corkran in Kinder,
Louisiana, and had been a resident of the Mid-County area since 1947. Versie
worked for many years as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell, before
her retirement.
She
is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Johnson and her husband, Keith, of
Nederland; grandchildren, Brandon Johnson and his wife, Rachel of Nederland,
Aaron Johnson and his wife, Rachel, of Fort Belvoir, Virginia and Dylan Johnson
of Nederland; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Bourque, Aaron Bourque, Ava Johnson,
Kaydence Johnson, Jaxon Johnson and Laurel Johnson; and brother, Cliff Corkran
and his wife, Pat, of Nederland.
Versie
is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon Lanier; and nine siblings.
A
gathering of Mrs. Lanier’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with
her funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014, at
Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Interment will follow
at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
The
family would like to give special thanks to Harbor Hospice and their caring
staff, especially Marissa, Nawasa and Casey.
