Clifford A. Guidry, 92,
of Labelle, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Medical Center of Southeast
Texas, Port Arthur. Mr. Guidry was born
on March 5, 1921, in Port Arthur, to Alice Bash Guidry and Odis Guidry. He
served in the Navy during World War II and later retired as an operator from
Gulf Oil. For forty years, he resided in
Hemphill before moving to Labelle five years ago. Mr. Guidry was very active and loved taking
care of his garden. He enjoyed traveling, and watching football and
NASCAR. He was an avid hunter and
fisherman and worked exceptionally well with his hands; he could fix
anything. Most of all, Mr. Guidry
cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
Mr. Guidry is survived
by his wife, Shirley Guidry of Labelle; daughter, Lynda Wood of Port Neches;
stepsons, Dan Phillips of Nederland and Gary Phillips of Port Acres; brothers,
Ray Guidry and Marvin Guidry; sisters, Alice Faye Greer, Bernice Guidry, and
Carol Demahy; grandchildren, Jimmy Bosarge, Cindy Ward, Brenda Fontenot, Brent
Guidry, Candi Simmons, Amber Owens, and Monica McClintock; and thirteen
great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death
by his son, Ted C. Guidry; two sisters, and one brother.
A gathering of Mr.
Guidry’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with his funeral service to
follow at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 N. 12th
Street, Nederland. His committal service
will be 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Houston National Cemetery,
10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.
