Helene Ann Spencer,
79, of Winnie, died Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Baptist Hospitals of
Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on July 11, 1934, in Jefferson County,
to Aline LeJeune and Ferdinand Christ, and had been a lifelong resident of the
Winnie area.
Helene was raised in a
rice farming family, but once she was old enough, Helene ventured out into the
business world. She started a business that became very successful over the
years, “Helene Rental Equipment”, an oilfield equipment rental company.
Survivors include
daughters, Annette Johnston of Stowell and Suzette Betts of Houston;
grandchildren, Dusty Turner, Taylor Betts, and Nicole Betts; and sisters,
Bonita Christ of Winnie and Linda Parnell of Stowell; also, a host of nieces,
nephews, other family members, and friends.
Due to inclement
weather, a gathering of Ms. Spencer’s family and friends will begin at 10:00
a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30,
2014, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with interment to
follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
