Caroline Mayes

Caroline Mayes was born on October 23, 1948, in Anahuac, to Mary Lily Blue and George Richardson.

She attended school at George Washington Carver. Caroline worked at Leisure Lodge retirement home, in Anahuac, for fifteen years; she later retired because of health issues. She was a member of Bright Light Baptist Church, in Anahuac.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lavine Mayes, Jr.; brothers, Robert Richardson, Benjamin Richardson, and Micheal Richardson; sisters, Mary Lee Hill, Melissa Raymond, and Annabell Whittington.

Caroline Mayes departed this life on January 24, 2014, at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, in Baytown.

She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her loving husband of fifty years, Lavine Mayes; daughter, Cordella Mayes of Baytown; son, Micheal Mayes and friend, Pearlie, of Hankamer; Shannon Lavine Mayes, who she raised as her son; brothers, George Richardson, Graylin Richardson, and Rodney Richardson of Hankamer; sisters, Donna Kay Thomas of Winnie and Sharon Richardson of Baytown; four grandchildren, Matthew Kirkwood, MyLexus Mayes and MyKayla Mayes, all of Hankamer; and Micheal Mayes, Jr. of Baytown. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends
