Hershel
Lee Hanley, 84, of Port Neches, died Monday, January 20, 2014, at Harbor
Hospital, in Beaumont. He was born July 14, 1929, to Rubena and Charlton
Hanley, and had been a resident of the area since 1953. Hershel was a veteran
of the United States Army. He retired from Unocal refinery after working for
thirty-two years as an operator. Hershel was all about his family, especially
his boys and grandchildren. His favorite thing to do was to take the grandkids
to the hunting club. Whether hunting, picnicking, or roasting marshmallows,
these were his favorite times. Hershel enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting
and was also a dedicated Nederland sports fan.
He
is survived by his wife, Faye Hanley; son, Reggie Hanley and his wife, Debbie,
of Nederland; daughter-in-laws, Shawn Hanley of Port Neches and, Dana Huff of
Nederland; grandchildren, Jessie Morris, Shelby Morris, Trent Hanley, Alaina
Lastovica, Trey Hanley, Kaitlin Hanley, Kirby Hanley and Hunter Huff;
great-grandchildren, Logan Morris, Reagan Morris, Kaul Morris and Charlie
Morris; sister, Mary Lee Brouillette of Marksville, Louisiana; and brother,
Leonard Everett Hanley of Nederland.
Hershel
is preceded in death by his parents; son, Rory Hanley and brother, James
Hanley.
A
gathering of Mr. Hanley’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th
Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23,
2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port
Neches.
