Clarence
Eugene “Gene” England, 92, of Port Acres, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at
Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Born
September 10, 1921, in Luling, Texas, he was the son of Annie Smith England and
Collie E. England. Mr. England was a
United States Army and Army Air Corp veteran, having served for eight and
one-half years. After thirty-nine years
of service, he retired from Texaco, having been a JIT instructor on crude
stills. He was a sixty-five year member of Cosmopolitan
Masonic Lodge #872 in Port Arthur and served as a board member from 1963-1970
with Port Arthur Parks and Recreation.
He
is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Rose England of Port Acres; sons, Darrell England and
his wife, Kristie, and Ronnie England,
all of Nederland; grandchildren, Tommy England of Port Acres and Hailee England
of Nederland; and one great-granddaughter, Rylee Brewer of Nederland. Gene was preceded in death by his parents,
one sister and five brothers.
A
gathering of Mr. England’s family and friends will be Friday evening, December
27, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th
Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December
28, 2013, at Broussard’s, followed by burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in
Groves.
