Joseph Burnell Ortego, 75, of
Kountze, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
He was born on November 22, 1937, in Ville Platte, Louisiana,
to Camille Reed Ortego and Estele Ortego.
Joseph served his country in the United States Army during the Korean
War; he later worked and retired as an ironworker with Local 135 in Galveston.
Survivors include his wife,
Kathryn; children, Rebecca Stout and her husband, Ted, of Moss Bluff,
Louisiana; Angie Meeks and her husband, Pat, of Orange; Joseph Ortego and his
wife, Jenifer, of Sulphur, Louisiana; Janice Marshall and her husband, Mark, of
Boerne; Angie Stone and her husband, David, of Gladstone, Missouri; Constance
Gross and her husband, Harold, of Orange; and Ricky Richison and his wife, Kay,
of Waxahachie; thirty grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents;
children, Arlene Cusick and Barbara Parrish; and brothers, Delta Ortego, Horace
Ortego, and Charlie Ortego.
A gathering of Mr. Ortego’s
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 11,
2013, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery
Road, Silsbee.
His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013, at
Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, 13480 Highway 421, Kountze.
