Kenneth Earl Thompson, 67, of Sour Lake, passed from this life on Friday morning, July 5, 2013. He was born in Bryan, Texas, to Eloise and Lee Roy Thompson. A graduate of Hardin-Jefferson High School, he played football during the Vernon Glass era at Lamar University. After Lamar, he played football with the Chicago Bears before a knee injury caused an end to that. Kenneth drove trucks covering all the lower forty-eight states. This was a life-long passion of his, and he truly loved the big rigs and nomadic life. His wife, Dee, often went with him on his trips whenever possible because he loved having her with him and said so many times.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Dee Thompson; sister, Lou Ann Johnson and her husband, Ronnie; brother-in-law, Randy Goleman and his wife, Janet; and nephews, Heath Goleman, Scott Goleman, and Brian Johnson.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Thompson and Eloise Thompson Dromgoole; and nephew, Brett Johnson.

A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Ronnie and Lou Ann’s Bayou Barn, 845 Nevada, Sour Lake. Family and friends of Kenneth are invited to join the celebration.

His committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sour Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, 711 6th Street, Sour Lake, Texas 77659.

I remember Kenneth as a good friend, classmate and teammate. We played football, basketball, and track together. He was a physically imposing individual that always treated everyone in very gentle manner. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family.
