Frank J. Blazek, Jr., 87, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on January 26, 1926, to Jessie Caroline Ruff Blazek and Frank Joseph Blazek, Sr., and was a native of Beaumont.

After graduation from South Park High School, Mr. Blazek served as a radio operator in the Navy during World War II in Hawaii and Kwajalein. He remained in the Navy Reserves for many years. Upon his return from the war, Frank worked as an electrician at Magnolia Refinery and retired as project engineer at Mobil Refinery in Beaumont thirty-seven years later. He was a third generation Blazek to work at Mobil.

Frank was a man of many talents. He could design and build anything from a wooden sailboat to a beach home. He enjoyed gardening, sailing, hunting, traveling, and of course, spending time with his family. He was devoted to his wife, Charis, and they made many wonderful memories traveling the country together after they retired. Frank will also be remembered for his irrepressible wit, infectious smile, and love of a good joke.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Charis Meynig Blazek; son, Frank “Joey” Blazek III and his wife, Paula, of Beaumont; daughter, Laurie Blazek Easter and her husband, Jim, of Houston; sister, Margaret “Margie” Barnes McIntyre of Nederland; granddaughters, Jessica Easter and Allison Easter, both of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Howard Blazek.

A gathering of Mr. Blazek’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701, or the charity of one’s choice.

Mr. Blazek’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Collier Park and Mamie Zenn with Home Instead for their kind and loving care for Frank.

Joey and Laurie,
I just got back into town and saws that your dad had passed and that I missed the service. John and I were actually at the beach this weekend and never bought a paper or went "on-line." It was your dad's beachhouse that got me hooked and kid! I remember your dad always building something, and, with great care and perfection! Boat, the cushman scooter, the go-cart, and had the most organized workbench ever!
your dad was a great role model and I lways looked up to him. I know ya'll are going to miss him but your hearts will always be warm knowing he is at Home,
On behalf of the Wiggins boys, Please give our best to your sweet mom!
Tom
