Marie Moore Laughter, 94, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2013, at Lenrose Place in Beaumont. She was born in Victoria, Texas, on July 7, 1918, the daughter of Mary Ethel Morgan and Thomas Avery Moore. She spent her entire life in Victoria until the last four years when she moved to Beaumont to be near her daughter.
Marie had many hobbies in her life including gardening, dancing, playing bridge, and traveling. Her family was her greatest love, including six brothers and sisters, who are now deceased. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Victoria all her life.
She married her high school sweetheart, Willis Monroe Brewer, in 1942, and had one child, Mary Carol. After Willis passed away, Marie married her present husband, John Laughter of Victoria
Her survivors include her husband, John Laughter of Victoria; daughter, Mary Carol Brewer Greig and her husband, Carl, of Beaumont; grandsons, David Christopher Greig and his wife, Angela, of Atlanta, Georgia and John Bradley Greig and his wife, Sharon, of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Elisabeth Greig of Atlanta, Georgia and Emily Greig of Beaumont; sister-in-law, Martha Hamel of Victoria; nieces, Sandra Pyle and Jan Hamilton of Victoria; Dinah Harris of Austin; and Melany Sharon Aston of Oklahoma City; and nephews, Mike Moore and Tom Lasserre of San Antonio.
Our family wishes to express our deepest thanks to Marie’s loving caregivers at Lenrose Place who made her last years very happy.
A gathering of Mrs. Laughter’s family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 12:00 p.m., at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.
