Rebecca “Becky” Blanchard

It was always good to run in to Becky at a media event and catch up.

Becky you will truly be missed. We used to have so much fun with Lynne and Ronnie back in the day. Now you are with pawpaw Charlie and mawmaw!

The world is a less sunny without Becky. She was such a joy to know professionally and personally. Gone too soon and too quickly, she will be remembered for her good heart and loving spirit. So sorry for you, her family, but grateful that we all had her for a while. In deepest sympathy.

Sorry I was not able to be there, but you were & are in my prayers. It’s been a long time since I have seen or spoke to you, but I am happy for the good times we got to share. Uncle Curtis, Blake, Beverly & Haylee. You are all in my prayers, I love you all.

I had the great pleasure of being Becky's co-worker for a few years. I learned a lot from her. She was always cutting up, laughing and smiling. We all had a great time. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

So saddened I was to learn of Becky's demise. She was a longtime friend. And in conversations with fellow writers, Becky had a way of focusing the attention onto their work rather than her own. She was a special lady, and my deepest condolences go out to the family.

Becky, you will be greatly missed and our hearts and prayers are with your family. You were a dear friend and won't ever be forgotten.

Growing up I remember her always smiling. My heart and prayers go to her family and friends. Praying that the Lord will bring comfort and peace to the family at such a hard time. God Bless.

Becky, it's been a long time since we were all growing up in the little town of Port Bolivar! There is so many memories. But the one I remember the most was when we would gather in the living room of your parents and your Dad (Peanut), and Jackie would play the guitar and you and I would sing like we were some real pro's. We were just kids but still had fun! I remember the last time I talk to you was about 4 years ago, and we talked for about a hour and a half and I feel so blessed to have been able to do that. I'm praying for your family for I know they are going to miss you but I also know that heaven has gained another angel. RIP Becky!

My heart is broken at Becky's passing. I hope, if nothing else, her medical struggles: a heart attack before she was 50 and cancer taking her so quickly at 55, serve to remind all of us to live every day to the fullest. To the family, I hope all the wonderful memories of a woman filled with energy and enthusiam, love and warmth, will comfort you in your sorrow. Beverly, Blake, Haylee, she loved you beyond measure, exceeded only by the love she had for her grandchildren. Jacie, you have a new mission -- to help all your younger cousins hear the stories and know the person who was your grandmother. Each of you was so special to her. Curtis, I can't imagine your loss. All of you will be in my prayers. May God comfort you.

Some of my best childhood memories were playing at Mrs. Becky's. Our prayers go out to the family at this time. May God help heal your hearts.

I will never forget the first time I met Becky. She was attending a meeting of aspiring writers at the Book Rack on Calder in Beaumont. It was her first time to consider writing, but she told me she thought she had the ability to tell a good story. While most of just talked about writing a book, she actually did it and got published. I still have the copy of "Taken" that she autographed for me at a writers' conference in 1991. What a wonderful woman! She was an inspiration to me and to many others.

Sending prayers to the Blanchard Family in hopes of some peace during this very difficult time.

Blake I am so sorry for the loss of you mother, my prayers are with you an your family. She is in a beautiful garden of flowers maybe even sitting there with mama looking down on all of us. Love ya aunt Marty and Sug.

Becky had a way with words that very few of us will ever master. She took so many stories of just regular folks and let them shine just for a moment in the spotlight in the Journal. I was deeply honored that she would call me her dear friend and she always told me she loved me. I understood that it wasn't that easy for her. She grieved right along beside me when I lost my son Daniel. She remembered his smiles and his stories. He loved her and I pray that is his showing her around in heaven. WE all lost a remarkable woman today. Rest now dear friend. You so deserve your rest. I loved you.
