Bettie Jean Galassi, 88, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 30, 2012. She was born on July 17, 1924, in Beaumont, to Rose Shumaker Pecora and Vincent Pecora. Bettie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as the Devotional leader in the Priscilla Circle. In addition, she was a UMW member, attended bible study, and was a part of the Intercessory Prayer Group. A favorite past time for Bettie was the Marsha Woody Tap Class.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her willingness to help others. She was a caring mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. In her own very special way she was gentle and kind, always making sacrifices for her family and friends. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren making sure their lives were heading in the right direction - listening and giving her candid opinion.

Survivors include her son, Frank Galassi and his wife, Ann, of Nederland; daughter, Darlene Cass and her husband, Baron, of Dallas; grandchildren, Todd Galassi; Jinni Akins and her husband, Derek; Channing Cass; Perry Cass; and Baron Cass IV; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Galassi and Jude Akins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Perry Galassi; grandson, Jason Galassi; and brother, Morris.

A memorial service for Mrs. Galassi will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her grandchildren, Todd Galassi, Jinni Galassi Akins, Baron Cass, Perry Cass, and Channing Cass will serve as pallbearers. A reception will immediately follow in the McKnight Parlor at Trinity United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Music Department, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77706 or the charity of your choice.
