Sam Jerome “Boo” Serio, Sr., 86, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. He was born to Giovanni Brocato Serio and Joseph Serio in New Roads, Louisiana, on January 25, 1926. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps – Air Wing Division during World War II. After his service, he moved to Beaumont and attended Lamar Jr. College. There he met the love of his life, Angie Giglio, and was married in September 1947. Boo went to work, alongside his brother Joe, at Texas Coffee Company. There he served as sales manager and retired after forty-nine years of service.

Boo was blessed with a vibrant personality. He had a gift for always seeing the good in every person and every situation. Boo felt genuine love and compassion for all. He welcomed everyone with an open heart. In his eyes, there were no strangers, only friends. He was passionate about life and embraced everyday with infinite positivity, enthusiasm and joy. No one ever gave so much love and happiness to his family as Boo. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him. He was a spiritual influence on all those he touched with his gentle humor, kind words, and zest for living.

Boo was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where he served as an usher.

Boo is survived by his four children: Sam Serio Jr. and his wife, Mary; Danny Serio and his wife, Judy; Susan Russell; and Stephanie Roberts and her husband, Robert, all of Beaumont; his five grandchildren: Anne Russell East and her husband, Brandon, Taylor Russell, Michael Roberts, Trent Roberts, and Anthony Serio; and step-grandchildren: Travis Cook and his wife, Wendy and Amy Bhatia and her husband, Josh; long time companion, Wanda Fiorenza; sisters-in-law: Olivia Fertitta Serio, Lucille Messina Serio, and Teckla Giglio Burkman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Angie Giglio Serio; and his four brothers, Jimmy, Tony, Joe, and Paul Serio; and two sisters, Concetta and Antoinette Serio.

A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, with a gathering of family and friends to begin at 5:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.

His family would like to thank John Galbreath, a long time friend that spent countless hours with Boo; Kathaleen Semien, caregiver; Dr. Mark Toups, and his staff, Kathy and Carol; and Dr. Al Brady and his staff for the wonderful care they provided.
