Shirley Marie Broussard, 83, of Port Acres, died Friday, September 7, 2012. Born October 27, 1928, in Groves, she was the daughter of Josefine Blanco Adams and Sidney Adams, and had been a lifelong resident of the area.

Shirley was employed with the Port Arthur Independent School District, having worked in the cafeteria at Stephen F. Austin for thirty-two years before her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Therese, the Little Flower Catholic Church, Port Arthur, and was involved with several areas of service to the parish. Shirley was a member of the St. Therese choir and taught CCD classes for forty-six years. She was founding member and president of St. Rita Altar Society and Kaycettes, where she also served as treasurer. In addition, Shirley was a Eucharistic minister and lector for St. Therese, the Little Flower Catholic Church and Eucharistic Minister for Christus Hospital St. Mary, Port Arthur. She was an extremely giving person with unconditional love to share and would rather do for others before her own self. Shirley was a wonderful person that cared greatly for her children, grandchildren and the people of her parish.

She is survived by her husband, Chester Anthony Broussard; children, Larry Hebert and his wife, Brenda, of Port Arthur; Chester Broussard, Jr. and his wife, Jean, of Mauriceville; Mike Broussard and his wife, Dorothy, of Starks, Louisiana; Randy Broussard and his wife, Rosie, of Port Arthur; Cathy Knott and her husband, Rickie, of Nederland and Kevin Broussard of Port Arthur; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
