Jose “Joe” Garza, 78, of Beaumont, died Friday, August 31, 2012. A resident of Beaumont since 1958, he was born on August 2, 1934, in Edinburg, Texas, to Florencia Olivares Garza and Marcos Garza. Jose will be remembered as a hard worker and great dancer who always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved praying with his family and enjoyed fishing with his nephews, sons-in-law, son, daughters, and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Micaela Lara Garza; children, Maria Montiel and her husband, Martin; Juan Cardoza and his wife, Belinda; Yolanda Prowse and her husband, Clive; Sylvana Novar and her husband, Lorenzo; Alma Garza-Cruz and her husband, Antonio; Maria Douget and her husband, Lenis; Florencia Padilla and her husband, Frank; brothers, Gustavo Garza, Federico Garza, and Homero Garza; sisters, Emma Santana and Marta Davila; sister-in-law, Rita Garza; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Angel Garza; brothers, Humberto Garza, Roberto Garza, Luis Garza, and Reynaldo Garza; and twin brother, Jesus “Jesse” Garza.
A Rosary for Joe will be recited at 6:00 p.m., with a gathering of family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September, 3, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Beaumont.
