Irene Honeycutt, 95, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 08, 2012. Irene was born on September 3, 1916, to Clara Monteau Boudreaux and Morgan Boudreaux in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church, Simpsonville, and lived the last seventeen years of her life with her daughter and son-in-law, Mel and Bambi Larkins of Simpsonville.

Mrs. Honeycutt was preceded in death by her father, Morgan Boudreaux; her mother, Clara Monteau Boudreaux and her husband, Walter Thurman Honeycutt. Mrs. Honeycutt was also the last survivor of nine children born to Morgan and Clara Boudreaux. Following her marriage to Walter Thurman, she lived in the Winnie-Stowell area of Southeast Texas. While Mr. Honeycutt worked in the oil fields, Irene raised eight children, a phenomenal feat, considering she never drove an automobile her entire life. She was a wonderful mother and a real trooper in her later years, moving from coast to coast with her daughter and son-in-law’s work, Fluor Corp.

Mrs. Honeycutt is survived by eight children, Edna Irene Brown, Walter Louis Honeycutt, Barbara Ann “Bambi” Larkins, Frederick Paul Honeycutt, Troy Alfred Honeycutt, Margaret Mary Thompson, Glenda Gail Kyzer, and Mattie Lee Long; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. She was very loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A gathering of Mrs. Honeycutt’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

I just read that you lost your mother, and I am deeply sorry. This is a time for sadness and a time for joy for the wonderful life it sounds like she had.

It saddens me to hear of the loss of Grandma Irene, she had contacted me a few years back and we caught up but I have always missed her she was a blessing to have had in my life as a child. I am sorry for the familys loss and wish i would have known so I could have attended the visitation. We all loved her dearly here, and know that she is now with God.
Love,
Mandy
