Ethel Marie Erickson, 86, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont.
She was born March 27, 1926, to Beulah Shank and Ivo Phend. Ethel graduated from South Park High School in 1942. She was a program technician in the ASCS office for the United States Department of Agriculture and a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and baking pies.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Erickson; daughter, Judy Holmes and her husband, Jim, of Humble; sons, Walter Erickson, Jr. of Nome; Robert Erickson of Beaumont; and Wayne Erickson and his wife, Joy, of Nome; grandchildren, Michael Ward, Dr. James Holmes, Jr., Summer Warner, Joshua Holmes, Jared Holmes, Brandon Erickson, Katherine Dube, Emily Penney, Jonathan Erickson, Jason Erickson, and Courtney Kelley; thirteen great-grandchildren; and brother, Ivo Phend, Jr. and his wife, Patsy, of Hamshire.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Peebles; brothers, Russel Phend, Robert Phend, and Richard Phend; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Erickson.
A gathering of Mrs. Erickson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2955 South Major Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
