As many of you all know Dad was creamated. With all the rain we were unable to bury him right away. As of 8-5-12, he is now resting peacefully. At the blessing of the burial site, I wrote and read a poem and wanted to share it.

CANCER said five years,
We begged for more.
No hope of survival,
No chance for a cure.

CANCER said it is time,
You said no way.
You fight so hard,
We need you to stay.

CANCER said it has won,
Your fight is done.
You are growing so weak,
You can no longer run.

CANCER said time to go,
We beg of you to stay.
You are ready to rest,
So you find your way.

CANCER has not won,
You kicked cancer’s ass.
Because eternal life,
It is all you ever asked.

Heaven has gained an angel,
Our tears began to run.
To rest we lay you here today,
As we see the setting sun.

We will think of you often,
And you will be cherished.
Forever you will live with us,
Your memory will never perish!

I miss you Dad, more than words can express.

Uncle George....to me he was always like Paw-Paw Aubey. He was a MAN...he was always working, outside, or working outside. When I was little and he came into the house I got quiet because you could hear his boots and his booming voice...and I was afraid I would be in trouble. It was the same for me when Paw-Paw Aubey came into a room. I remember looking over at Tammy and Tina and they were calm. It was just that it contrasted with my own dad's raised eyebrows. When we were in trouble that is what we "heard". Nora and I have talked about how silly that was of us to have been afraid of either of them.....they were really such nice and good men. After Paw-Paw Aubey died, Uncle George replaced him as the patriarch of the family to me. Paw-Paw Aubey had a little spiral notebook with Spanish translations in it that I loved...it was in his truck and I looked through it the only time I ever got to go riding alone with him. Uncle George gave it to me after Paw-Paw Aubey died. I don't even know how he knew I wanted it. All of his kids had spent much more time with Paw-Paw Aubey than I had, but he gave it to me. He was just thoughtful like that. He took care of the land, checked on my mom, checked on Aunt Brenda...talked to my mom about hunting. Any time she got a deer, he was the first one she wanted to call. You could hear her just laughing on the phone...loud. I saw them come in from hunting once after I was grown and she was following him like she was his younger sister. He would congratulate her on her deer with wimpy antlers even. She would still try to impress him with how she shot the deer since she could not beat him with antler size. Mom has always seemed to me to enjoy the ways in which Uncle George reminded her of her dad. She never got to go to Fannett as much as she wanted to when we were growing up. It has been really fun for me to watch her get to spend so much time with her younger brother these past years. I truly have never seen her try to impress someone like she did with him...the hunting. He meant so very much to her. Uncle George was actually the most honest man I have ever known. I saw him one time after we had all eaten seafood arguing with my mom over two quarters. I am not talking about when quarters could buy a lot...I mean now. Really, they were arguing about two quarters. He had to make sure she took them...he didn't want to cheat her out of them. I have heard her say so many times that he was too honest for his own good. My mom is pretty honest, too, so for her to say that really should make you understand. Aunt Joy Rita, Tammy, Tina, Buck and Terry....I am truly, truly sorry you are suffering. I am very glad I got to have a private talk with him about my mom when I got to visit that day two weeks before he died. It is easier to think how the suffering had to end, but that isn't enough to make it all ok. There is a hole there. Fannett feels so different. Love, Audrey

To the family of George:
Our deepest sympathy in your loss. George was just a small child when my family lived on Threadneedle just a few doors down from the Aubey family. Noreen was my best friend growing up.

May God bless each of you and give you peace and comfort.
