Lourie Adkins, 82, of Port Arthur, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Broussard’s, in Nederland with Rev. Jerry Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m . until 8:00 p.m. October 20, 2004 at the mortuary.
Lourie was a native of Castor, Louisiana and has lived in the Port Arthur area since 1961 and is a member of Proctor Baptist Church in Port Arthur.
She was preceded in death be her husband, Reverend M.B. Adkins and her parents, Andrew and Nancy Thomas. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Sandlin and husband Bing of Port Arthur; three stepchildren, Reverend Jerry L. Adkins of Ruston, Louisiana, Bert Flenniken of Shreveport, Louisiana, Gwen Bernard of Lafayette, Louisiana; two grandsons, Brian Sampere of Nederland and Brant Sampere of Bridge City. Also surviving is seven step grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron and Bryce, and one sister Marie Kolb of Nederland.
