David Carl East, 72, of Hamshire, died Wednesday April 18, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Houston. A native of Port Arthur, he was born on July 10, 1939, to Ellis and Margarete East.

David was a retired maintenance foreman with American Valve and Hydrant. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, wood crafts, watching the birds in his yard and feeding them, reading Louis L’Amour books, watching western movies and TV shows, playing his guitar and listen to country music and the golden oldies. David was a very caring and loving man who never met a stranger and could talk about anything and loved being around people. His favorite hobby and greatest gift though, was his lifelong dedication to his family and friends and enjoying participating in all their activities.

David is survived by his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Hazel East of Hamshire, sons, John Mook and his wife, Julie of Dayton, Samuel Mook of Fannett, and Jim Mook and his wife, Denise of Wylie; grandchildren, Randall Whitney, Heath Mook, Jerrod Mook, Jon Mook, Brian Mook, Ethan Mook, and Seth Mook; brothers, Mark East and his wife, Pam, James East and his wife, Linda all of Hamshire, and Thomas East of Fannett; and a host of family and friends.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening, April 22, 2012, at Broussard’s.
