Annamae Flossie Wheeler Carter was born on July 6, 1925 in Navasota, Texas. She went to be with our Lord on April 11, 2012 in Vidor, Texas.

Flossie lived in numerous locations as a child. Her father followed the work wherever it was available. She graduated from Vidor High School. She later met and married Billie Dean Carter, who worked in the oil fields. They finally settled in Nederland, Texas with their four children.

Flossie was a good Christian, mother and wife who loved going to church and hearing good preaching and singing. She did not get to go as much as she would have liked to, due to her health in her later years, but she was always there in spirit. She moved to Evadale after the death of her husband in 1998. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She had numerous friends in church and she especially enjoyed Keen Angels when she was able to go.

Flossie took pride in being a loving wife, grandmother and homemaker. Some of her favorite hobbies and talents were sewing, crafts, gardening and drawing.

Flossie is survived by her three brothers, Ed Wheeler of Cleveland, Texas, Frank Wheeler of Dallas, Georgia and Oscar Wheeler of California; sister, Emma Emrie of San Antonio; children, Ben Carter of Jasper, Don Carter and his wife, Pam of Waxahachie, Kay Stringer and her husband Joe of Evadale, and Ann Carter of The Republic of China; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved, as well as a large number of friends.

Her funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, April 13, 2012, 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Broussard’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Julie and Ben Rogers Cancer Institute, 3555 Stagg Drive, Beaumont, Texas in honor of this great lady or a charity of your choice

I have nice memories of Flossie. She was my mother's cousin--Fairy Hodges Cain. We look forward to seeing all our cousins and parents and grandparents in Heaven because we accepted Jesus as our Saviour. What a reunion that will be! My thoughts and prayers go out to each one of you. God is with you through it all.
