Olan William Smithey, 82, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Dubuis Hospital.
A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Mr. Smithey has lived in this area since 1950. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was employed as a Veteran Representative with the Texas Employment Commission.
Mr. Smithey was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Sydney Smithey and Lola Morton Smithey. He is survived by his wife, Odessa Smithey of Beaumont; sons, John Earl Smithey and his wife Nancy of Beaumont, and Jerry Smithey of Garland, Texas; daughter, Jane Hanson and husband Lindsey of Beaumont; sister,Billie Juanita Robertson of Humble; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont, with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the mortuary.
