Frank F. “Bucky” Assunto, Jr., 66, of Beaumont, went to be with his Lord early Tuesday morning, December 27, 2011. Frank was born in Beaumont on September 25, 1945, to Pauline and Frank Assunto, Sr.

Bucky grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in Education and was also a charter member of the Theta Rho Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He spent two years in the United States Naval Reserve and was a Vietnam veteran. Frank was the owner/manager of Men’s Discount Shop in Beaumont since 1974 and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Frank’s greatest passions were spending time with his family, singing in his beloved church choir, golfing with his sons and friends, and more recently, playing with his two grandchildren. Ever the Renaissance man, Bucky was actively learning to play the piano and taking voice lessons when he passed.

Frank is survived by his wife of forty years, Laura Daigle Assunto; his sons, Trey Assunto and his wife, Joy of Lumberton, and Ryan Assunto and his wife, Allison of Austin; his two grandchildren, Blythe Easley and Levi James; his father, Frank Assunto, Sr. of Lake Charles; his four sisters, Paulette McKinney of Tyler, Darlene DeLorenzo and her husband, Joe of Lago Vista, Pauline Morris and her husband, Bob of Spring, and Tammy Carnahan and her husband, Wes of Lake Charles; as well as numerous nieces and nephews of whom he was exceedingly fond.

Bucky was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Parsley Assunto.

A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011, with a period of Sharing Memories at 6:30 p.m., at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s.

Dear Laura,
I was saden to hear of Frank's death. I used to sit right next to him in the Choir. He had a wonderful voice and many times I would ask him to help me with my pitch. He had what I thought was perfect pitch. You and the boys are in my prayers...........Patrick Crawford
