Carrie Suzanne Budd Naas, 45, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston following a valiant struggle with breast cancer. Carrie leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of almost fourteen years, Jonathan; and her two precious and adoring children, Lauren Elizabeth (8) and William Charles (4).

Carrie was born May 11, 1966, in Beaumont, Texas. She graduated from West Brook High School where her claim to fame was being the first mascot for the newly formed Bruins football team. She went on to graduate from her beloved University of Texas and was an active member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

Upon graduation from The “World Class” University, Carrie worked as a corporate recruiter and interior decorator in Austin where she was an active member of The Junior League. It was in Austin where she met the love of her life, Jonathan, and they had their children, Lauren and Will.

The family moved to Beaumont where Carrie reconnected with old friends and, as always, never met a stranger. Her cancer diagnosis underscored her passion for life as she continued to live each and every day to its fullest. Carrie made each friend feel like they were her “best” friend. She was a tireless volunteer for The American Cancer Society and was a board member for the Julie Rogers” Gift of Life” Program and Baptist Hospital’s Pink Power Network.

Survivors include her parents, Peggy and James Budd of Dripping Springs, formerly of Beaumont; her sister, Amy Budd Graber (John) of Buford, Georgia; brother, Scott Budd (Gina) of Austin; aunt and uncle, Nancy and Bill Barker of Midland, Michigan; mother-in-law, Linda Eaton (Stan); father-in-law, Martin Naas (Margaret); and brother-in-law, Stephen Naas (Laura), all of Maine; nephews and nieces, John and Jim Graber, Mary Caroline and Margaret Budd, and Madeline and Carter Naas.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2011, at Broussard’s.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "The Carrie Naas Donation Fund" (last four acct digits are 6914) at any Wells Fargo location; or you can mail a contribution to Wells Fargo, 8255 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77706, attention, Shalanda Washington; or you may call 409-860-3126.

I'll always remember the my phone conversation with Carrie just after Lauren was born. She was so excited to have a baby daughter, to be a mom. It was probably our longest conversation and of course, as usual Carrie did most of the talking.

With fondest memories, Uncle "P"

Jonathan, Lauren, Will, Scott, Amy, Mr.&Mrs. Budd,

It's hard to put into words what Carrie means to me. She was the bright light that touched every person she encountered. I have spent the last several days going down memory lane from Sallie Curtis, Marshall MS to West Brook High. So many of my memories that make me smile about my childhood included Carrie. From eating the "Zoo" at one of my birthday parties at Farrells in elementary school to cracking up with her in Madame Steven's French class in High School. Carrie was definately one of those people who helped shape my childhood. She was one of those friends that no matter how much time and distance was between us, when we saw each other again it was like time had stood still and we'd pick up where we left off. She will continue to live in my heart and bring a smile to my face. Carrie, thank you for your friendship, love and wicked sense of humor! Love to you all!

Carrie was a lovely young girl who grew to be a valiant woman. From her special sparkle as a teen in "Camelot" to our last meeting by chance, she lit the room with her smile and her genuine zest for life. Gone too soon. Remembered with affection and deepest sympathy for her family's loss by her friend,
