I remember the barbeques on Sunday, the homemade vanilla ice cream (especially with fresh peaches!), the time we watched the Ed Sullivan show and saw the Beatles for the first time...all at Daddy Harolds. I remember being allowed to drive the "green bomb" which would be a collectors item now...and by the way...it was Daddy Harold that had the patience to teach me to drive. I remember how he walked into the kitchen while I was boo hooing because the guy I was in love with at that time (his name was Everett and I was 16) was leaving for the summer. I put my arms around Haroldand just sobbed...Daddy Harold just patted me on the back and let me cry. Then there was the time when David my brother came up missing and we searched the neighborhood along with a lot of neighbors...we looked for what seemed hours and hours...and then there was David right there behind the pump shed (no longer there) as he had gotten scared and falled asleep...but when David finally came out this strong man who feared nothing broke down and cried and hugged his son David. These are some of my memories of my Daddy Harold who married my mom and took on a family of four kids and supported me while I was growing up. I greatly appreciate what he did for me.
