Margaret Lange Pollock, 83, of Vidor, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2011, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Vidor, she was born on March 3, 1928, to Violet Prosperie and Joseph Numa Lange. Margaret lived a full life making numerous friends along the way. At an early age, she sought to begin her journey as a nun, but life took her in a different direction. She later met the man she would wed, John Colver “J.C.” Pollock.

Margaret taught school for many years at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School and for Vidor Independent School District. Many of her students remember her as their 5th grade History, Math and Science teacher. She enjoyed the outdoors and would often take her nieces and nephews in the RV, camping and fishing or to their cabin at Crystal Beach. After retirement, she volunteered at Columbia Hospital, M.A.S.H., St. Elizabeth Hospital, Baptist Hospital and Buckner Children’s Village. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor, the church was established largely due to the efforts of her parents.

Survivors include her sister, Violet Grable of San Diego, California; nieces, Donna Taylor of San Antonio, Amanda Richie of Dallas and Julianna Lange of New Braunfels; nephews, Michael Manning, Patrick Manning of Blanco, Byron Votaw of Houston, Russell Lange of Vidor, Carlos Lange of West Chester, Ohio, Danny Lange of Bastrop, and Chris Lange of Houston; many great nieces and great nephews; and her beloved dog “Cricket”.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Pollock; sister, Thelma Lange; brothers, Wilbur Lange, Bud Lange and Roland Lange; and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1600 North Main Street, Vidor, with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Christian Vigil will be held at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011, with a gathering of her family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.

Dear Aunt Margaret,
I'm so happy I got to see you this past summer and that you got to meet my girls before going on to be with our Lord. I know that it meant a lot to you that we were able to stop by to see you. I only wish I would have been able to stop by more over the years that I have been away. You have a special place in my heart as both my aunt and my Godmother. I cherish all the great times we had together when I was growing up. You were always there for me. We had so much fun together, going fishing, enjoying the beach and just taking in life. I remember those days as if they were yesterday. God bless you. You will be missed.

Today you were buried next to your husband and with your family. It has been quite a journey Miss Margie but I would not have wanted to be anywhere else than by your side, as you have been by mine for the past 15 years. You were, and will continue to be the best friend anyone could ever have. I miss you more than words can say. You took a piece of me with you. We came across a listing of the jobs you've held after leaving the convent...Telephone Company- 2 yrs, Dallas Williams - 2 yrs, Dr. Broussard, Orthodontist - 4 mths, Sanitary Chem -4 yrs, United Gas - 1 1/2 yrs, Lamar Univ for teaching degree - 4 yrs, Assumption School - 4 yrs, St. Mary's - over a year, South Park - 2 yrs, Pine Forest Elem in Vidor - 18 yrs, St. Anthony's - 1 yr...American National Bank, sold photographs, and I know that you spent the remainder of your life volunteering at Columbia Hospital, MASH, St. Elizabeth's, Baptist and Buckner Children's Village comforting and helping others. I wish you could have stayed longer, but God needed his angel to come home. I love you so much Margaret. You will forever be a part of me...You will always be my Margie and I will always be your baby girl.
