Margaret Lillian Bloomfield, 78, of Daisetta, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Clairmont Nursing Center in Beaumont. Funeral Service will be Sunday, September 19, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Broussard’s Chapel 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, Texas 77656 with burial to follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson. A gathering of family and friends will be today, Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the mortuary in Silsbee.

Margaret was born on March 15, 1926 in Daisetta, Texas to the parents of Ely Matthew Davis and Gertrude Burnette. She met her sweetheart, R.J. as a teenager and a long courtship and years of writing love letters followed. Although an ocean and World War II separated them, they corresponded by mail until his return to the States when they finally married. They were blessed through the years with 3 daughters and an adopted daughter.

Margaret built her home in Beaumont, where she raised her family until retiring to her lake house at Toledo Bend. This is where she met her church family at Bethany Baptist Church in Milam.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she lived to care for others. She raised her family to love life and have faith in the Lord. Although she never held a “job”, she worked tirelessly at her home. An avid Gardner, she could tell a person about any type of flower or tree. She truly had a green thumb and could make anything bloom with her touch.

Cooking was another specialty of hers and although all her grandkids would want different breakfasts after spending the night with her, she would gladly cook 4 or more different meals and know exactly how each child wanted their eggs.

She was a dreamer who could make any piece of furniture she could imagine, add a room onto a house, decorate a room on a dime or crochet a Christmas tree full of ornaments.

Her love of life has been missed for the last year since her sweetheart, R.J. passed away. Alzheimer’s has long since stolen her smile, her charm and her happy heart from us and we know that she is happy to finally be with her Lord and with R.J.

She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Diane and Douglas Sullivan, Linda and Bob Hale, Elaine and Jay Wilkerson and Penny and Tom Grant. There are also nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who are lucky enough to call her Maw maw Bloomfield.
