Frank Harold Lewis, 63, of China died Thursday, September 1, 2011, at his residence. A native of Beaumont and lifelong resident of China, he was born September 2, 1947, to Viota Thibodeaux Lewis and Raymond Gordon Lewis and was a retired farmer.
Frank had a love for music and played the guitar as well as the piano for a local band in the 60's. He farmed rice and raised hogs for many years. Frank also aided with youth projects for 4-H, Boy's Haven, and FFA. He was also a sponsor for the American Diabetes Association and the "Kiss A Pig Contest". Frank loved the land, his family and friends, and most of all, the Lord.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Lewis of China; children, Frank Shane Lewis and his wife, Becky of Nome, Boots Lewis and his wife, Judy of Warren, Greta Lewis Crawford and her husband, Shannon of Lumberton; and Justin Raymond Lewis and his wife, Melissa of China; sister, Helen (Tot) Overall of Beaumont; grandchildren, Blaire Lewis, Brooke Lewis, Haleah Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Dalton Crawford, Landry Crawford, and Kassidy Lewis soon to arrive; great grandchild, on the way; and mother-in-law, Nola Prudhome of China.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 W. Highway 90, China with interment to follow at China Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be Monday, September 5, 2011, beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
