Louis “ Pop ” Grimes, 104 years, of Nederland, passed away, Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.
He was born June 10, 1900 in New Iberia, Louisiana and had lived in Nederland since 1944. He retired from Texaco at the age of 65 as a pipe-fitter helper and then worked at Lloyds Trailers until he was 80 years old.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-8 pm Monday, September 20, 2004 with a Christian Vigil service at 5:30 pm at Broussard’s Mortuary 505 12th. St. in Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend Bennie Patillo presiding. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Bertrand; and one son, Roy Grimes both of Nederland, three grandchildren, Tommy Grimes, Rebecca Demeter, and Linda Porter; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Trahan, Alvin Guidry, Roland Grimes, and Jimmy Guilbeaux.
