Evelyn Bagwell Holland Deaven, 88, of Wildwood, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

She was born in Eros, Louisiana, March 31, 1923, to Mamie and James Bagwell. Both of her parents died when Evelyn was a young child. She was taken into the loving home of her aunt and uncle, Malva and Clinton Hagler. Evelyn was a long time resident of North Beaumont; she later moved to Wildwood where she resided for the past thirteen years.

Evelyn lived a long and happy life. She had a wonderful career at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, where she made many lifelong friends. She was an amazing Mother, mother-in-law, sister, Gran and friend. In her later years she was especially grateful for the many trips she and Zeke were able to take in their motor home.

Along with her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil M. Holland; sisters, Barbara Dillard and Eloise Joiner; and brothers, Charles Hagler and Reggie Hagler.

She is survived by her husband, Marlin “Zeke” Deaven of Wildwood; sons, Gary Holland and his wife, Judy of Wildwood and James Douglas Holland and his wife, Mischelle of Vidor; brothers, Kenneth Hagler and his wife, Carolyn of Vidor and James Bagwell of Monroe, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Mae Beth Hagler of Port Neches; four grandchildren, Gary Holland, Jr., Melissa Rossi Jenkins, Deedra Holland LaPray and Breyn Holland Quinn; and four great grandchildren, Megan and Matt Jenkins and Tate and Porter LaPray. Evelyn was lovingly known as “Aunt Diddie” to a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Her graveside service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Evelyn requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Don Allen Wildwood Sports Day, P.O. Box 723, Village Mills, Texas 77663.
