Funeral services for Sgt. Mike Lane, 54 of Nederland will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 20, 2004 at South Park Baptist Church in Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 N. Major Drive in Beaumont. Interment with honors will follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 3:00 PM Sunday at the mortuary.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Mike had lived in Beaumont a number of years prior to moving to Nederland. He was killed Wednesday evening in a tragic helicopter crash while on duty as a Beaumont Police officer.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Lane of Nederland; son, Ben Lane of Nederland; parents, Fred and Virginia Lane of Beaumont; sisters, Carol Ann Lane of Houston, and Linda Kay Morris and her husband Brock of Waco; and a number of nieces and nephews.
