Rhonda Lynn Waters the mother of two daughters, Stephnie (DeDe) and Shelby Johnson died at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont on Sunday June 12, 2011, after a brave battle with cancer.

Rhonda was born at the base hospital in Misawa Air Base, Japan on August 16, 1961. She was the second beloved daughter of Carl B. and Billie Ann Light who were stationed at that base from 1959 to 1962 where Lieutenant Light was a United States Air Force pilot. After leaving Japan Rhonda and the family returned to the United States and other Air Force bases in Washington and Florida. In 1964 Rhonda, her mother and sister, Carla moved to her father's home town Beaumont, Texas while he served in Vietnam. She then lived in Beaumont until 1976 where she made many new friends and enjoyed the company and loving attention of her grandparents, Carlos and Grace Light and other family members and friends of the family.

Carl and Billie were divorced in 1966, Rhonda moved to Destin, Florida in 1976 where she joined her father and step-mother, Shirley. She attended Fort Walton Beach High School graduating in 1980.

Rhonda is survived by her daughters, Stephnie and Shelby Johnson; step-daughter, Lindsey Johnson of Beaumont; sister, Carla Hudson, and niece, Hillary Hudson both of Navarre, Florida; father and step-mother, Carl and Shirley Light of Thompson Falls, Montana; step-sister, Sandra and Bill Greenheck, and their children, Debra and Craig Daniels all of Gig Harbor, Washington; step-brothers, Randy Wells and his wife, Julie and Grady Wells and his wife, Terry of Washington; Aunt Aileen Pace and Uncle Don Pace; and other family extended family and friends too numerous to mention.

Rhonda's loves of her life were her daughters, DeDe and Shelby, their care and welfare. Her passion for music was obvious to all who knew her. She had artistic ability and skills often shown in her home projects.

Her memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

We are saddened by such an untimely departure. Rhonda will be missed. Our prayers are with Uncle Carl, Shirley, Carla and Billie who I know are hurting. May His Grace supply you and may you be comforted by His loving arms. We are so very sorry we are unable to make it to the service. Finances prohibit travel at this time. I would have LOVED to see everyone again. Much love, John and Lacy (Light) Pester
