Eleanor Louise Christian Donalson quietly passed away on September 7, 2004. She was born on November 6, 1921, in Port Arthur, Texas, to John Lewis Christian and Johnnie Velma Caswell Christian. She grew up in Orange, was a young wife and mother in Silsbee, and returned to Orange to raise her three daughters. She worked in Orange and later in Houston as a bookkeeper, but will be remembered best for her many and varied avocations. Eleanor was a consummate seamstress, horticulturist, craftsman, decorator, and artist. She especially loved the Christmas season and worked year-round on decorations and handmade gifts for each of her children and grandchildren.
Eleanor was preceded in death by two of her daughters, Linda Dieringer and Karen Phillips, both of Houston. She is survived by her brother, E.E. Christian of Orange, and daughter, Donna Cormeir of Beaumont; ten loving grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Lucas House, her home for the past eight years, for their loving care of this remarkable lady.
