A native to Loreauville, Louisiana he was a longtime resident of the Port Arthur/Nederland area.
Born in 1908, to Auzere and Rita (Louviere) Blanchard, he was the eldest of six sons which and now all deceased. He was a Merchant Marine for many years, retiring from Arco in 1970.
Survivors include his daughter Betty Lormand of Bridge City; son Gene Blanchard of New Braunfels; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
