Charlie Achord, 82, of Port Neches, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at New Beginnings Adult Care Center in Beaumont.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 24, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Nederland with Reverend Adam Pardue officiating, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Broussard’s in Nederland.
Mr. Achord was a native of Saulsbury, Tennessee and lived in the Port Neches area since 1949. He was an instrument mechanic and retired after many years of service for DuPont. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Nederland. Charlie will be remembered as a loving father and devoted husband.
Mr. Achord is survived by his wife of sixty years, Doris Achord of Port Neches; daughter, Nancy Flores and her husband Robert of Port Arthur; son, Bradley Achord of Port Arthur; grandchildren, Ben Clawson and his wife Elysa and Lauren and Jordan Clawson; great-grandson, Josiah Clawson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelsey and Agnes Achord; brothers, Frank and Wade Achord and his sister, Sybil Cannon.
