Anna Lee Folse Morgan, 93, was born to Theodore Louis Folse and Lucille Chauvin Folse on August 6, 1916 in Beaumont, Texas.

A strong, resilient Texas woman, Anna Lee left this life on June 14, 2010. Anna Lee graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Beaumont in 1933 and married Willard Morgan in November 1940. The Morgan’s made their home in Port Neches, where they commemorated the births of each of their children by planting native pecan trees, which still stand today. At the time of her death, Anna Lee was a resident of Gulf Health Care Center in Port Arthur. The family extends its gratitude for devoted attention from her suitemate Florence Junot, her companions Gloria Guidry and Jo Ann Jones, to the compassionate GHCC staff and to everyone who cared for or visited Anna Lee. She was a woman of great faith and was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Port Neches since 1940, where she was active in the Altar Society in her younger years. Anna Lee was an avid armchair traveler through her great love of reading. Her keen sense of humor, gratitude for the smallest of favors, devotion to family and special love for children, chocolates, golf and football were staples of her personality. Anna Lee embraced exercise throughout her life, walking and cycling well into her eighties.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., June 16 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Port Neches with Monsignor Bennie Patillo and Rev. D. Stephen McCrate officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 PM, June 15th at Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland.

Anna Lee is survived by her daughter Wilda Morgan Hayes & son-in-law Ron Olsen of Danbury, CT; son-in-law Sam Loyacano of Port Neches; daughter-in-law Joy Morgan Barten & her husband George Barten of Beaumont; devoted grandchildren: Mary Lynn Sumrall of Port Neches, Sam Loyacano, Jr. and David and Cherie Loyacano of Porter, Elizabeth Hayes of Danbury, Christopher Hayes and Nicholas Elsishans of San Francisco, Anne and Brian Pitts of Campobello, SC and Gregory Morgan of Beaumont; cherished great grandchildren: Tyler and Emily Sumrall, Madilyn and Kelsey Loyacano; siblings Russell & Theresa Folse of Beaumont and Leon & Elizabeth Folse of Victoria, nieces Marilyn, Phyllis, Janet, Cathy, Terri, Kim and Marlene; and nephews David, Rusty, Thomas, Harvey and Scooter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Willard Morgan, her children Carolyn Morgan Loyacano and Michael Morgan, brother Louis Folse, sister Ena Browning John, five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, nephew Joe Folse and grandson John Sumrall.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family invites you to plant a tree in honor of Anna Lee or to make a contribution to the Effie & Wilton Hebert Public Library in Port Neches (www.ptn.lib.tx.us) or to your favorite library as a tribute to her love of reading.

My mother knew the Morgans before I was born and before my parents were married in 1943. Wilda and I have had a friendship dating back to age 5. I had the pleasure of seeing Anna Lee in May 2009 while visiting my uncle at the Health Center, and she still had that beautiful, graceful smile! Anna Lee and Willard were two of the last visitors my mother had at St. Mary's Hospital in 1991 before she died. She was a wonderful support to Mother during Mother's bout with breast cancer. Too many memories to list, but one is having my first piece of Duncan Hines cake at the Morgans' house! A beautiful lady has left us, but her spirit remains with us. A life to celebrate!

Wilda and I were very close growing up, and my memories of her home revolved around Anna Lee, although to me she was Mrs Morgan! She was so sweet, always, and such a calming influence on me. I loved being in her home and remember the many conversations we enjoyed. I am thankful to have been able to see her a few years ago; she remembered me and told me it was about time I came home! A lovely life, well lived. I will miss her. My love to the entire family, I know you will feel her loss deeply.

There is a line in a James Taylor song that says "The key to life is to enjoy the passage of time." Anna Lee spent a month with Wilda and I in Connecticut and later more that three months with Willard as hurricane Rita evacuees. During this time I got to know and love this selfless woman of great character and personality. Nobody enjoyed the passage of time more than she, and I have no doubt that, wherever she is, the enjoyment continues.
