John E. Carrington, 65, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010. He was born in Beaumont on November 29, 1944, to Lillie Bravanec and Wiley Carrington. John had been a lifelong resident of the Beaumont area and was a brick mason until his retirement in 2000.

He attended schools in Beaumont and graduated from French High School in 1964. John served in the United States Army in Fort Lewis Washington and Vietnam in the Corps of Engineers from 1966 to 1968.

John was a gentle quiet man who loved the outdoors and fishing. He took long walks and loved to observe nature-the birds, deer and was very interested in Astronomy. He also loved Classical music. John was an avid reader and could tell you anything about the Bible and the life of Jesus that you wanted to know. He loved to read bedtime stories to his girls when they were small. John loved to travel and was always talking of going to Israel and tracing his family heritage to Barbados and England. He was very interesting to sit and talk with because of his vast knowledge gained from years of reading ancient history and biographies of famous individuals.

Survivors include his daughters, Andrea Susan Carrington Davis, and Ashley Lynne Carrington Bruce; brothers, David Lea Carrington, Paul Edward Carrington, James Edward Carrington, Daniel Ray Carrington, and Samuel Morris Carrington; sister, Sara Nell Carrington; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Wiley Elmer Carrington; mother, Lillie Vlasta Bravanec; daughter, Laura Alison Carrington; and brother, Wiley Elmer Carrington, Jr.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal will be at Broussard’s Crematorium.
