In 1971 she moved to Newton, Texas as Director of Nurses of the new hospital which included managing Surgery, Obstetrics, and Emergency Room. In 1978-1988 she worked as Nurse Surveyor with the Department of Health-Long-Term Care Unit. During her career, she was mentor to many and loved and respected by all. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her hobbies included boating, water skiing, dancing and, as a young girl, flying. She loved all animals but was partial to her many German Shepherds.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Lewis of Jasper, Cynthia Maloy of Houston, Susan Ward and her husband Roy of Beaumont, and Linda Korns and her husband Gary of Beaumont; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many other loving family members, and nieces.
